The Biblical Basis for T4T
A Church Planting Movement (CPM) is a rapid multiplication of indigenous churches planting other churches that sweep across a people group or population segment. CPM’s are growing now around the world and the CPM that Ying Kai and his partners started in China, also called a “T4T movement” is the fastest-growing CPM recorded in history!
Research has proved that the fastest way to evangelize a region is to start new churches filled with members who have been trained to share their faith. . And the fastest way to start churches? CPM’s. The fastest way to start CPM’s? Start T4T groups that will become new churches.
The ingenious insight that T4T’s leaders rediscovered (it’s the way things were done in the New Testament) is how Christians must go beyond merely teaching students (disciples), but must teach disciples to disciple others in turn. This is true multiplication and is called “new generations of T4T groups”.
Paul expressed this concept in numerous places including his statement to Timothy that:
“The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to teach others also.” — 2 Timothy 2:2 [NAS]
That verse holds four generations of leadership as 1) Paul trains 2) Timothy who is to 3) train faithful people who will 4) train others also. True multiplication that can be thought of this way: Paul is the father, Timothy his son, then faithful grandsons and great-grandsons. Think about a family that grows across four generations. This is how Paul and those who followed reached an estimated 25 million people in 15 years!
Ying Kai and his co-laborers rediscovered 2 Tim 2:2, saw over 2 million people converted then baptized, and started over 160,000 churches–in 10 years! RUN Global is using similar practices and has grown from a handful of people to 250 full-time native missionaries and the 4000 they are training, now presenting the gospel to over 600,000 people per year!
